The mineral base remains unchanged and does not decompose – no combustion products are produced. This creates a dense, aromatic vapor. When combined with tobacco, steam paste is often used to intensify flavor, increase bowl moisture, and extend session duration. Since steam paste is not subject to tobacco product regulations, flavors forbidden in hookah tobacco may also be used.
